Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is an American British musician and sitarist. She was first in her age group to receive an award from the British House of Commons Staff. Anoushka is a rising star in Indian sitar. She is the student and daughter of Ravi Shankar. Her childhood was spent bouncing around from London and New Delhi. Her debut concert was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of 13. After that, she moved to Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Although she is still very young, Anouskha has an impressive performing and recording career. She performs regularly with her dad and has done so for many years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy award-winning album Live At Carnegie Hall. The stage work she has done is broad as she's performed in most of the biggest venues in the world. The career of Anoushka doesn't only involve musical performances. Bapi The Love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. In addition, she has appeared in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she is an aspiring Bharat Natyam performer. Anoushka is continuing to advance in her professional career, and there will be many other things to be expected from this talented woman. Anoushka was born in England and spent a lot of her childhood in between London in the UK and Delhi. Then she moved to California and enrolled in the high school there. She started learning to play the guitar at age 9 and performed on the sitar for the 75th anniversary of the birth of her father in Delhi four years later. Anoushka, who accompanied her father on his worldwide tour, gained a remarkable number of experiences. In her teenage years she performed in Carnegie Hall as part of Peter Gabriel's WOMAD and even recorded with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as one of the top musicians in Asian Arts, she was awarded the House of Commons Shield by British Parliament.
